Making January Happen

Earlier last year I learned about these wonderful things called PowerSheets by Lara Casey. Being my usual overly organized self, I gushed over the pretty layout. I had recently been thinking about the fact that I have so many things that I want to accomplish, but I never seem to be able to get things done. I wanted to write a book, but I never seemed to have time. I wanted to read books, but again, never seemed to have time. Or I'd forget about a goal and remember it way later. When I found these PowerSheets, I was set. I bought them right away and then went at it. I actually had to wait a few weeks before diving into completing those goals, but I was ready. Over the summer I started my journey with PowerSheets and my goals seemed to be completing themselves. I had a list (and I love lists) of things I wanted to complete monthly, weekly, and daily. I was able to see my progress and I was able to notice where my time was going.

One of my goals was beginning a blog. And if you've look at the posts prior to this one, you know that I tried starting this blog in August. It was a perfect example of "progress not perfection" which is something Lara Casey says quite a bit. So I've given myself grace and have continued forward. I'm proud of the goals I've completed up until now and I'm excited about the goals I'll place in the future.

Even though there is nothing special about January 1st, the nifty Make It Happen PowerSheets workbook that I bought happened to start in January. And so that is where I'll begin documenting my journey:

JANUARY GOALS

Monthly Goals:
Get a full time job I've been working towards getting a job in the UX/UI field and have gotten a certificate. But now it's down to applying and interviewing and eventually landing an actual job.
• Meet with marriage counselor Stephen and I have our appointment already set, I'm excited to continue preparing for our marriage
• Meet with marriage mentors We've also already set up our time to hang out with our mentors! They're great and I'm so thankful to be learning from them.
• Update resume/portfolio/website I've started this a while ago, but I'm ready to complete it and send it out.
• Organize photos on hard drive I have way too many photos to count, I'd love to reduce the amount and get rid of any duplicates I may have.
• Create (and stick to) a budget Because I'm not making a whole lot of money, I should be careful how I spend my money. Stephen and I plan on taking Financial Peace University sometime, but why not start now.
• Tithe Because my goal is to have a job, it makes sense that this would be a goal as well. I'd like to tithe 10% and then increase every year.

Weekly Goals:
• Go climbing (min. 3x a week) Stephen and I are planning on getting an Earth Treks membership. I'm excited to go climbing with him.
• Apply to 10 jobs
• Spend time with a friend 1-on-1
• Call far away friends
• Go outside for 2 hours
• Attend church weekly

Daily Goals:
• Read bible daily
• Pray through Val Marie prayer journal
• Pray with Stephen
• Read a chapter from a book
• Journal
• Take vitamins
• Make a "green" smoothie (I hate leafy greens in my smoothies, so I tend to make them more fruity instead)

I'm excited for everything that this year has in store. I can't wait to work on these goals!
